[ Well that conversation with Inanna got him antsy. Mostly about Gregor, whom he is going to cuddle fiercely tonight, but he feels the need to assert some level of romance with Kitty too. ]

please tell me I'm pretty. or at least pretty interesting to sleep with, I need that right now

[Miles texting was usually a rather pleasant surprise. Not to say that the Barrayaran wasn't outgoing, it's just he tended to be a bit self focused, and out of sight = out of mind.

They'd half written up the usual sharp, half-joke, half-offer, when the vulnerability of the last line strikes them.

It's a full minute before there's an answer.]

Do you want a catalogue of good traits, or are we dealing with that sort of mood where you're looking to cut yourself on implied insults.

[ Ah, good old Kitty. He's intensely grateful for both offers, and instantly back in a good mood. ]

That was nice. Achingly nice to hear. The sort of thing that makes you quietly tear up all on its own. With a smile, they sink into the couch.]

I should hope so. It's been a hell of a ride, hasn't it?

Oh god yes. Every time I sit down and think about everything we've been through I count myself lucky to be alive. And - well, we've had our spats, but you've been there all the way.

[ And because he's Miles, he rockets right along to the next thought. ]

Possibly. Though you sound a touch lovelorn, dear. While you seem both lovely and kind, I may be only a second best in company. Mind you, clever, witty and good looking second best, but I know how it goes.

[ When the video reply clicks on, the Betan looks a little roughed around the edges. Uniform had been straightened and smoothed, but the hair was a mess and a bruise starting to purple across the ridge of one cheek and soot smudging their jawline.

They give the camera a wry look, chin propped up on one palm. ]

[Jim appears on screen and looks...slightly different. Definitely more mature, a bit older, some new lines in his features. Still handsome as hell though.
