I'm sure she'll have a cryo unit on hand.

Oh, god. No more of that please. One revival is enough for this lifetime.

[ The comm unit sparks in his hands ... and then whirrs to life. ]

No? The Nexus record is three. And y- AH! It lives!

[ Miles will gladly not think too hard about how awful a third revival would be. He kneels next to their precious unit, watching the readout. ]

Up and running. Putting out a decent range too ... If they're anywhere in the system, they ought to be able to find us.

Oh thank god.

[Bel just, falls back flat, trying not to laugh with relief. It was just time and luck now. But the odds were so, so much better.]

[ Miles can't help but grin himself. Of course, if Quinn isn't in the system, then they're screwed, but ... ]

I wish we had something to drink to celebrate.

[They really can't afford to think like that.]

Well, there's water inside. But I'm really not interested in the visit just yet.

We should collect a few of those power eggs, though.

Just so ... We could nearly make it work if not for all the damn sand.

I'd feel more comfortable after like two jumps away and the hum of the engines underfoot, anyway.

[ Miles nods, not disputing that in the slightest. He settles back a bit to look up at the sky. ]

[That gets a look of concern. It had a very different tenor than a secret almost spilled and aborted. They'd seen enough of that in Pelian space to contrast.]

Of course. After all... it's only once. [They can't even SAY anything... it's utterly frustrating. Instead, Bel moves the conversation on to safer ground.] Though maybe you should add a good long conversation with the Inner Circle before I steal you properly.

[ He may have all his memories back, but he's not done sorting them. And Vorkosigan is still a strange, unknown entity in all this. How much of those memories are real? And how many are fake?

He glances over at Bel rather keenly at that. ]

[ He lies down in the sand, staring up at the sky. As if that will bring Quinn here faster. ]

[It isn't hard to imagine minutes after a signal goes out, a shuttle doing a hell drop in. But the real practicalities hold - distance, travel, even transmission speed.]
